How To Get More Visitors To Your Blog
Visitors are the lifeblood of any blog as the saying goes. Without visitors, your blog may as well be a private diary. And, if you plan to make any money with your efforts, those visitors will probably be making some contribution to it. So how do you get more visitors to your blog and make the hard work worth it ?
Getting more visitors to your blog has two components.
The first is to write content that is worth reading.
The second is getting the word out about that content.
So nothing particularly new there. Write good content and then promote it.
But the devil is in the detail.
What is good content and how do you promote it post panda/penguin.
Your content should be a mix of information and entertainment. People don’t go to a blog to read a dense dissertation on a topic but, depending on your niche, they don’t want to read something as vacuous as candy floss.
The current thinking on this is to write so that people can live your experience through your posts.
So write about what you are doing, the set backs you have had, the successes.
Provided you are doing what you are writing about, the posts should also be educational. Just so much more accessible.
Also, make a commitment to your niche or industry so that you have your finger on the pulse. Read the forums and the top blogs in your industry. Know the issues that are facing people in the industry. This should ensure that you are talking about the right things and that people will at least have an interest in it.
Content on your blog is the first and foremost priority. Although, build it and they will come doesn’t work, make sure that if someone does come, they leave with the prospect of returning soon after and telling their friends about their experience.
Word of mouth is the best kind of promotion you can get but what others ways can you get the word out.
Getting the word out
When you are proud of your content, then it is time to spread the word.
I would suggest you guest blog. This is a time consuming process but if you can get some prominent blogs to publish an article you can make some serious traction with visitors
also think about commenting on blogs in your industry. Go for big ones and try to get yourself a little known. If you make lots of good comments on a blog, there is a better chance you will be accepted for a guest blogging slot.
Bookmark your posts on social networking sites. You could use onlywire or socialadr to automate the process and I don’t see this as spamming.
